The start of pumpkin season has us feeling nostalgic for fall — since our taste buds are already traveling down memory lane, why not brew up some more seasonal favorites? Enter: healthy whipped pumpkin coffee, a seasonal twist on last year’s trendy Dalgona Coffee! Made with extra spice and less sugar than the traditional Dalgona coffee, this FitOn rendition will surely satisfy all your PSL cravings, and then some. Add this to your holiday drink lineup this season and savor every pumpkin spice-filled sip!

But before you whip up this holiday favorite, here’s a little background on this trendy treat.

What is Whipped Coffee & Why is it So Popular?

Dalgona Coffee, otherwise known as whipped coffee, is a 2020 TikTok recipe that’s made its way into millions of kitchens. This trendy beverage is not only delicious, but it’s simpler than ever to make. And, all you need is three basic ingredients — instant coffee, boiling water, and sugar. You whip them all together and serve this delicious whipped goodness over your milk of choice (yum!) The end result? A frothy, indulgent beverage that is rich, creamy, and oh so tasty!

It takes a whole new spin on how to enjoy the standard cup of coffee — it even puts the classic PSL to shame! And that’s a big statement, we know! Some even enjoy this as a dessert (that’s how yummy it is.)

Our Healthy Pumpkin-Inspired Spin on Whipped Coffee

While we love the idea of Dalgona coffee, we’re not too crazy about the excess sugar that comes with it.

So, we made a healthy whipped pumpkin coffee that’s free of both dairy and refined sugar, while still offering the same mouth-watering flavor of a traditional whipped coffee.

And, did you really think we’d forget about pumpkin!? Of course, we’ve added a pumpkin spin because who isn’t craving pumpkin spice this time of year?

The best part? You can enjoy this healthy whipped pumpkin coffee iced or hot. Enjoy this beverage cold during the early fall months, where you may still be enjoying the last sips of iced coffee season, and then make it hot when you’re craving a cozy, comforting beverage as the temps start to cool.

Healthy Whipped Pumpkin Coffee

  • 2 tbsp instant coffee
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 2 tbsp boiling water
  • ½ tsp pumpkin pie spice + more for serving
  • 1 ½ cups oat milk
  • Ice (for iced coffee)

Directions:

Simply add the coffee, coconut sugar, boiling water, and pumpkin pie spice to a large mixing bowl and using a handheld mixer, or hand whisk, whip until frothy — this will take about 3 minutes. Set aside.

For Iced: If making iced, add the ice to a serving glass along with the milk and scoop the whipped coffee on top of the milk and sprinkle with extra pumpkin pie spice.

For Hot: Add the oat milk to a stockpot over low/medium heat and heat until warm. Pour into your favorite coffee mug and top with the whipped pumpkin coffee. Sprinkle with extra pumpkin pie spice.

Note: Stir the whipped pumpkin coffee into the milk before enjoying if desired.
