Healthy Homemade Froyo Ingredients

There are a variety of ingredients you can use to make homemade froyo, but the ones we have chosen for this healthy version include whole food ingredients, protein-rich Greek yogurt, and healthy fats. Here’s why these ingredients make for a totally delicious healthy frozen yogurt treat.

Greek Yogurt

The base of this healthy cookie dough froyo is made with unsweetened Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt comes with added protein and works amazingly well when making homemade froyo. You can dress up or dress down the flavor any way you like.

Almond Butter

We added almond butter to our healthy frozen yogurt recipe to not only bring out that cookie dough flavor a bit more but to also add a boost of healthy fats. This healthy fat added some balance paired with the protein from the Greek yogurt.

Cacao Nibs

Instead of sugary chocolate chips, we added cacao nibs to this chocolate chip cookie dough froyo. They pack in that chocolate flavor we crave without the added sugar, and they also happen to come with added benefits like antioxidants and magnesium.

Natural Sweetener

You don’t have to reach for regular sugar when making a healthier sweet treat! We love to use pure maple syrup or honey instead and used just a drizzle to naturally sweeten this healthy homemade froyo.

Flavor Boosters

To add some extra flavor to this froyo, we chose to add pure vanilla extract (what’s cookie dough without vanilla?!) and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Feel free to play around with your own flavor preference. The options are limitless!

Healthy Toppings

A bowl of ice cream or froyo just doesn’t feel complete without a sprinkle of delicious toppings, right? And good news — you don’t have to sacrifice your healthy eating goals when enjoying that bowl of froyo because there are plenty of healthy topping options that we believe taste even better than those sugary alternatives!

Craving a crunchy topping? Try slivered almonds. If you’re a chocolate fan, try cacao nibs in place of chocolate chips. In place of chocolate syrup, try a drizzle of almond butter. For added natural sweetness, try topping your froyo with sliced banana.
