How to Find Fitness Motivation Even on the Days You Want to Stay in Bed

Find the joy in fitness again!

By: Rebecca Jacobs

Are you stuck in a fitness rut and need some serious fitness motivation? We totally get it, and you’re definitely not alone. Working out isn’t always on the top of the priority list because let’s face it, life has a way of getting in the way. Plus, when life gets hectic, our workouts or really any form of self-care tends to fall to the bottom of our to-do list. But, here’s the thing. Fitness is super important for not only physical health but mental health as well, and finding time to squeeze in even a 10-minute workout may make a big difference in not only how you feel, but that quick burst of activity may help pull you out of that fitness rut, and leave you wanting to move more! Ahead, we’re sharing some tips on how to jump-start that motivation to exercise again and find the joy in movement!

Finding Fitness Motivation

We may not always wake up and feel excited about getting our workouts in, but the truth is that we don’t regret the workouts we do, right? We only regret the ones that we didn’t fit into our day. With that said, here are five simple ways to find fitness motivation.

#1 Make an Awesome Playlist

What’s a workout without a good playlist? Not only does music help boost motivation, but it may help reduce even more stress as you push yourself through each exercise a little harder as your favorite songs give you that extra boost you need to power through each workout. Music is a sure-fire way to help give you a boost of fitness motivation, and heads up — you can stream music during your workouts with FitOn PRO.

#2 Tell Someone About Your Goals

It’s great to have fitness and health goals, but it’s another thing to tell someone who can help keep us accountable. Tell someone about the fitness goals you have and how you plan to reach them. Sometimes just knowing that someone else knows what your plans and goals are is enough to keep that motivation high and to keep you showing up for your workouts each day.

#3 Get an Accountability Partner

While we’re on the topic of accountability, why not get an accountability partner? Give that friend who has said they want to get fit that little nudge to finally get started on their fitness journey! You can work out together using the FitOn app while also welcoming a little friendly competition, because hey, a little competition is a great way to motivate us to push just a little harder. Join a FitOn challenge together or try FitOn party using FitOn PRO.

#4 Treat Yourself

If it’s been longer than you can remember since you treated yourself, use this as leverage to kickstart your fitness motivation. Set a goal — maybe it’s to wake up and do 25 minutes of exercise four days a week or to try a new exercise class each month. Whatever it is, once you reach this goal, treat yourself!

The trick to making this act as a form of self-motivation is to be very specific about what this reward will be and decide on it now. So, if you reach that goal of exercising four days a week when you reach your weekly goal, it’s time to treat yourself to what you decided on. Whether it’s a new workout outfit, a massage, or treating yourself to your favorite coffee on your way to work, follow through with your reward. You deserve it, and it will feel amazing after crushing a fitness goal!

#5 Just do it!

Sometimes the simple act of literally just rolling out of bed, getting our sneakers on, and just getting to it is the only way to make sure that workout is getting done. Plus, you will feel amazing about your accomplishment once you get it done. Sure, allow yourself to have a moment where you acknowledge all of that negative talk in your head telling you “you can’t,” but then push those negative thoughts to the side and just do it! The more you do, the more motivation you will have to keep showing up for your workouts.

The Takeaway

If you’re stuck in a rut and lacking fitness motivation, know that you are so not alone. This can happen often, and a lot of it has to do with the craziness life can bring us, pushing self-care aside, or just being downright bored with our fitness routine. But your fitness rut stops today! With these five tips, you may just find that you can boost your fitness motivation and find the joy in your workout routine again.
